In 1985, Jonathan Toye, while working for Plant & Food in New Zealand initiated an innovative experiment to utilize sunlight more effectively to enhance fruit quality and yield.

His groundbreaking method has been widely embraced by fruit growers worldwide. It entails the placement of reflective materials between rows to effectively capture and redirect sunlight back into the canopy.
