Extenday Reflective Fabric Reduces Leafhopper Numbers in Cherries

Western X is a disease that can be transmitted by leafhoppers and is associated with Little Cherry Virus, this infection results in the production of undersized fruit in infected trees.

Managing leafhoppers and controlling their population is crucial to reduce the spread of Western X disease.

Tobin Northfield an Entomologist at Washington State University lead a field evaluation of Extenday Reflective Fabric and Kaolin Clay on suppressing the numbers of Leafhoppers, showing that Extenday Reflective Fabric reduced Leafhopper number by 88 – 91%.
